About Pupson

dogsledPete “Pupson” Upson grew up in Northern California andĀ attended the University of California Berkeley. He flew C-5 cargo aircraft during the Afganistan and second Iraq War for the Air Force, but upon getting out of the military, decided to return to his love of film and animation.

He used his GI Bill and attended a year of film school and volunteered on some independent films in the Bay Area. Eventually he moved to Los Angeles where he got his start in visual effects working on video games like The Matrix and The Godfather. In 2005, he got picked up by Sony Imageworks to do motion capture editing on Monster House. While working on that film, he learned the Wheels Intersense system and moved in the Layout Department. While at Sony he worked as a layout artist and motion camera artist on Surf’s Up, Spiderman 3, and Beowulf.

Currently Pete works at PDI/Dreamworks Animation as a layout artist on such films as Bee Movie, Madagascar 2, and the soon to be released Merry Madagascar Christmas Special and How to Train Your Dragon. He lives in Palo Alto with his beautiful wife, Claire and new daughter, Dot.
